How one firm gets 1 to 5 new leads a week
A firm we work with sends one newsletter a week. Nothing fancy, just a short, useful email. They have done it every week for about a year.
In that time, that one email has brought in somewhere between one and five new leads a week. Real ones. People writing in to say they have a situation and need help.
Here is the part worth sitting with. Those leads came from a list the firm had almost written off. Old contacts, past clients, people who reached out once and never signed, the kind of list most firms leave sitting in their system assuming it is not worth much. It turned out to be the most valuable thing they owned.
And the leads were not even the whole return. The same email was quietly keeping them in touch with every past client at once, so those relationships stayed warm instead of going cold.
The gist
One weekly email brought a firm one to five leads a week, for a year.
The list it ran on was one they had nearly discarded as unimportant.
It did not happen overnight. The real results showed up around month three.
It was slow before it was steady
This is the part nobody shows you, so here it is honestly.
Month one, nothing. We were still building the setup, cleaning the list, getting the sending ready. No emails went out yet, so nothing came back. If you judged it here, you would have quit.
Month two, the first signs. The emails started going out. People noticed the firm had begun sending something useful. A few replied just to say thank you. Nice, but still early, still ramping up, nothing you could call a result.
Month three, it turned. More people reached out. Some of them with the sentence that pays for the whole thing: "I have this situation, can you help?" That was the month the firm stopped wondering whether it was working.
Most firms never reach month three. They send twice, see nothing, and decide email is dead. It is not dead. It is slow at the start and steady after, and the firms that keep going are the ones still in the inbox when the need finally hits someone.
The bottom line: The results do not come first. The trust does. The results follow the trust.
Why it still works
You might think information is too free for this to matter. It is everywhere now. Google, AI, a hundred articles on any legal question.
But that is exactly why it works. When something serious happens, people do not want the most available answer. They want the one from someone they already trust. A year of short, useful emails is how an attorney becomes that someone, before the trouble ever arrives.
If you want this for your firm
No pressure here. We just know it works, because we have watched it work.
If you have a list sitting in your system and are not sure what to do with it, or you want to set this up and do it right, you can reach out. Reply and tell me where your firm is. No pitch, just an honest answer about whether this would work for you.
Talk soon,
Howard
P.S. The firm in this story almost deleted the list that now brings it leads every week. Before you write yours off, it is worth a second look.
